After filing a claim, the VA may request a Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam to gather information about your disabilities. If exams are required for your claim, they will be scheduled by the VA or a VA contractor, and you'll be notified by mail, phone, or email. The videos below explain what to expect during different types of claims exams. The links below provide contact information for the VA and VA contractors who will be scheduling or rescheduling your C&P appointments. It's important to note that these exams are not for treatment or care. C&P examiners DO NOT DECIDE CLAIMS; they are only gathering information for the VA.

*If you miss an exam or need to reschedule, contact the VA or the VA contractor immediately*
