Tasked with overseeing and implementing technological solutions, the IT Department supports the county's mission by leading innovative projects that align with the strategic goals of various departments, helping them realize their vision for the future.
Our team is composed of 22 dedicated IT professionals, ranging from helpdesk support and network engineering to in-house software development. Each member brings a unique skill set, with business analysis expertise ensuring that we deliver the highest level of customer service to county staff and end users.
The IT Department manages an expansive computer network that connects all county offices and departments. Our responsibilities include maintaining data storage and backups, managing servers, overseeing wireless networks and network routing, providing internet services, and running a computer and printer replacement program. We also handle software management and provide help desk support to over 1,500 users across the county.
A key area of focus for the IT Department is supporting critical operations such as 911 services and public safety. Our team works closely with emergency response systems to ensure they are running efficiently and reliably, enabling first responders to access the vital information they need in real-time. By maintaining the technology that powers 911 dispatch systems and other public safety tools, we help ensure that Montgomery County’s residents are supported in times of need.
Additionally, the IT Department plays an essential role in enhancing courtroom operations by providing secure, reliable, and innovative technological solutions. We manage the systems that support court scheduling, case management, and real-time access to legal records, helping to streamline processes and ensure that court proceedings run smoothly. Our technology also supports audio-visual tools used in hearings and trials, further enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the judicial system.
With the added resources from our capital projects budget, the IT Department ensures that Montgomery County remains at the forefront of technological advancements. We are committed to supporting county departments with the latest solutions that enhance their ability to serve the public effectively.
At Montgomery County, we apply technology in ways that maximize productivity and efficiency. Our focus is on projects that are appropriately funded and provide tangible benefits, including increased individual productivity, higher-quality work, and the streamlining of processes. Technology not only simplifies daily tasks but also improves the quality of life for county staff by automating and optimizing essential functions.
