Military, Veterans and Family Members

Montgomery County is proud to be home to one of America's largest military installations, Fort Campbell. Located on the TN/KY state line, this 106,700-acre installation has the unique capability to deploy mission-ready contingency forces by air, rail, highway, and inland waterway. As of 2024, approximately a quarter million residents live in Montgomery County. We have one city, the City of Clarksville, which is only 30 minutes north of Nashville and covers an area of 544 square miles. Montgomery County is a popular place for military families to live and retire. We are a diverse community with numerous opportunities for work, education, leisure, and community engagement, which makes us MoCo!

Fort Campbell is home to the only Air Assault Division in the world, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). It is also the home to two prestigious Special Operations Command units: the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). Additionally, Fort Campbell houses the 86th Combat Support Hospital, the 716th Military Police Battalion, and substantial Medical and Dental activities. The installation provides training and mobilization support for numerous Army National Guard and Army Reserve units. Fort Campbell supports active and reserve component units, Army civilians, Army Families, retirees, and veterans.

While exploring our community, be sure to check out Downtown Commons (DTC)! This County Park is a community area that hosts a variety of activities for all ages, located in the heart of downtown Clarksville. DTC is a Montgomery County Parks event space and eatery that provides a vibrant atmosphere for musical performances, yoga classes, game days on the lawn, and more.
