VA Health Care Eligibility

Many Veterans are eligible for VA health care, which satisfies Affordable Care Act requirements without needing additional insurance. VA offers comprehensive medical benefits, including preventive care, prescriptions, mental health services, and support for women Veterans. Most Veterans receive cost-free services, though some may pay small copays. Combat Veterans have special enrollment periods, and digital tools make accessing care easy. Eligibility requires honorable discharge and active service, with specific criteria for Reservists and National Guard members. VA priority groups determine the cost of care for enrolled Veterans. Veterans are encouraged to apply and explore their benefits on the VA Health Care Eligibility page.

VA Mental Health Resources

VA offers a range of mental health resources, information, and treatment options accessible to Veterans, their supporters, and the public. Explore specific mental health topics and find tailored information on their website. Visit the Get Help page to access VA resources that address the unique stressors and experiences Veterans may face.

VA Dental Resources

VA provides dental care benefits to eligible Veterans. These benefits include diagnostic, preventive, restorative, and surgical dental services. Eligibility for VA dental care is based on specific criteria, such as service-connected disabilities, former prisoner of war status, or participation in certain VA programs. Veterans are encouraged to explore their dental care benefits and eligibility on the VA Dental Care page.

Urgent/Emergency Care

Emergency and urgent care are different types of care, not just different levels of the same care. For life-threatening injuries or symptoms, call 911 or go to the emergency room. Less than life-threatening injuries or symptoms can be treated at a VA facility or by in-network urgent care providers. Click here to Know Where To Go!
