Short Term Rentals

Public Chapter 787 was signed Governor Bill Lee on July 15, 2020.

This new law requires short-term rental marketplaces to collect & remit local occupancy taxes for short-term rentals beginning January 1, 2021.

The Department of Revenue of TN is now the collecting agency which remits said taxes to the Montgomery County Trustee on your behalf.

The Trustee’s office no longer accepts monthly occupancy taxes in our office.

 

Per the City of Clarksville, Short-term rentals are defined as properties that are listed and booked through a hosting platform for consideration and for less than 30 days at a time.

Effective September 3, 2020, the City of Clarksville requires all new short term rental operators to obtain a Short Term Rentals permit if your property is within in the city limits.
