Donate Used Items
Consider Donating Your Used Books to Your Library!
Donations are the next chapter in the life of your used items, so thank you for your interest in donating materials to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
What Can Be Donated?
Materials should be in good condition, new or gently used. We ask that all media cases contain original cover art.
- Books
- Music CDs
- DVDs
- MP3 audiobooks
- Audiobooks on CD
- Video Games
We Are Currently Unable To Accept The Following:
Materials in poor condition that contain stains, mold/mildew, are pest-infested, smell, damaged bindings, writing, torn or missing pages or parts, etc.
- Textbooks
- Encyclopedias
- Dictionaries
- Self-published material (except for archival purposes)
- Reader’s Digest Books
- Magazines & Newspapers
- Magazine Gift Subscriptions
Library staff screen all donated materials for potential addition to the library's collections.
Materials not suitable for inclusion in our collection may be given to the Friends of the Library for their book sales. Funds raised at these sales support the Children's Summer Reading Program and other valuable library programs.
Specialty Items
We encourage any specialty books, antique and historical books that are in good clean shape for our book sales.
Your Donations May Be Tax-Deductible
If you itemize deductions, your donation of materials will be tax-deductible. At your request, Friends will provide you with a receipt for tax purposes. It will be up to you to determine the value of your donation.
What Can I Do With Items Not Donated?
Many local thrift stores will accept books and other materials. Please contact them for their donation requirements. We suggest Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Progressive Directions, and The Salvation Army, Clarksville Corps.
