The index, compiled by Reference Department Assistant Linda McArthur, gives the name of the deceased, date and page number in the Leaf-Chronicle dating from 1985 to present. This will be occasionally updated to eventually include deaths back to 1980.
This database, compiled by Reference Department Manager Tim Pulley, covers a large range of years from many sources. They range from the formation of the County from history books, cemetery and funeral home records, obituaries from the earliest Clarksville newspapers through 1979, military records, or any other historical record found in the Brown Harvey, Sr. Genealogy Room that has death dates of Montgomery Countians included in its pages.
