News and Announcements

We are ecstatic to share that the 2023-2024 Fiscal Budget for Animal Control went into effect on July 1st, 2023.  What does this mean for MCACC, well for starters the funds for the construction phase of our new shelter were approved!!  This is a huge step and could not come soon enough.  Our team has spent the last several years hoping and praying this day would finally come.  We are super excited to share that the new facility will be approximately 22,000 square feet.  To put that into perspective, our current shelter location is 7,000 square feet so we will be growing into a shelter 3 times the size of our current facility.  

Our new shelter will boast a medical facility where we will employee a small veterinary staff team to include a Full-Time veterinarian and 2 Certified Vet Tech Support staff to assist with medical procedures, spay/neuter surgeries, and other medical related needs of the shelter animals.  Our Cat area will have a large adoptable cat room, a separate stray cat room, medical quarantine area, as well as several catio's that will house 2-4 cats each that will have free roam of these areas with an outdoor patio where they can enjoy the fresh air!   Our dog areas will have nearly 100 dog kennels that will be twice the size of our current dog kennels providing all of our dogs indoor and outdoor access.  The outdoor area of the new shelter dog kennels will have overhead doors that can be raise and lowered throughout the day to allow fresh air in.  The staff will finally have breathing room as well in providing individual office spaces for all of the staff, many of our staff currently share small office spaces, desks and computers.  

There are so many other areas and features we are looking forward to sharing with everyone as we keep moving forward.  We do not currently have a break ground date, but it looks to be sometime this late fall to early winter.  Keeping paws and tails crossed!
