Departmental Overview and Projections

Montgomery County EMS holds an “A” rating from the State of Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Emergency Medical Services. In order to achieve this rating the State of Tennessee requires the service to provide capabilities for advanced life support or special critical care on one hundred percent (100%) of emergency runs within their service area, providing this service twenty-four (24) hours a day. We exceed this requirement by staffing every unit with a Paramedic.

In the fiscal year 2019-2020 (July 1 through June 30), Montgomery County EMS operated on a budget of approximately $11,600,000, and responded to 32,148 calls, having twelve (12) stations strategically located throughout the county. Total collections for the fiscal year 2020 were $6,900,000; costing the citizens of Montgomery County only $4,700,000 which comes out to approximately $23.50 per capita to provide excellent emergency medical care.

Our department (to date) staffs one-hundred and sixteen (113) Paramedics, Critical Care Paramedics, Registered Nurses, and Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians.
