Welcome to the County Clerk's Office
Due to our office undergoing renovation, we are currently located at 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 406. This is the site of the former Career Center and only two doors down from our office. We apologize for the inconvenience and request your patience during this renovation process.
IMPORTANT: Registration Renewal Notice Change
Please be advised, beginning February 2012, the wheel tax (also known as county fee or education tax) will be included in the total amount due on the state of Tennessee’s registration renewal notice.
The State of Tennessee has also discontinued mailing the second page of the renewal notice. This page contained the wheel tax and non-resident military exemption information for counties in Tennessee.
Montgomery County’s wheel tax is $30.50. This amount will be included in the box marked “total” on the right side of all registration renewal notices. Non-resident military, eligible for the wheel tax exemption, must submit a copy of their current Leave and Earnings Statement (L.E.S.) depicting qualification to be exempt from the $30.50 tax. The L.E.S. must be presented at the time of service.
